About Louise

Following 20 years as an English teacher in the UK and abroad, I moved with my family to the Dee Valley, and very quickly fell in love with the outstanding beauty of this area and North Wales. Dragging my family to many of the castles, up hills to explore long lost hill-forts, pointing out the sites of industrial activity, from gold mining, to the slate industry, to coal, I decided to build on my expertise and love of history and the natural world, and so completed my qualification as a WOTGA Green Badge tourist guide for North Wales.

Following my qualification, I have thoroughly enjoyed taking coach tours around Yns Mon (Anglesey), Snowdonia and the Dee Valley, working out itineraries which best suit the group and best give a real taste of what there is to see and do here in North Wales. I have tailored private tours for small groups, both in a private vehicle and on foot as we have walked the medieval walls of Conwy, pounded the pavements of Corwen and Llangollen with a trip on the steam train linking these two famous market towns. Using the strength of many years of working with school groups, I have also enjoyed the opportunity to foster a love of history and the area with school groups, helping them to imagine life in one of Edward I’s medieval fortresses, or understanding the ways in which the slate industry has impacted on life and culture here in the north of the country.

Setting up my own tour-guiding company has allowed me to share my love of the area, the history and Welsh community and culture and I look forward to meeting you and to sharing this passion in the future.
